Attendance

Absence from school, regardless of the reason, limits your child’s educational opportunities and can negatively affect his/her grades and academic achievement.

Notification of Absences

If your child is absent, please inform your ward’s class teacher or the office or provide a written excuse from home when returning to school. Excused absences include illness, quarantine, doctor’s appointment, attending a funeral, religious holiday/exercises. After three absences without valid excuses

Principles

The student must wear a neat and ironed uniform.

The student must wear a school identity card in school premises

The student must have neatly trimmed hair and nails

Shoes must be polished

All electronic devices are prohibited within the school premises

80% attendance is compulsory

Extended Absence

If you know that your child will be absent for 5 or more consecutive days, please contact the office so we can arrange an Independent Study Agreement.

Tardies

Students arriving after the tardy bell are tardy. Each tardy means valuable instructional time is lost. If your child is tardy, he or she should report to the office for a tardy slip.

Visitors on Campus

All visitors must sign in at the main office when they arrive and sign out when they leave. This policy is for the safety of students, visitors, and staff. The school needs to know who is on the premises at all times.

School Discipline Philosophy

The goal of the student standards of conduct is to maintain a safe school environment that promotes academic achievement and feelings of safety, respectfulness, and responsibility. At all times, Willard students are expected to exhibit the attitudes of a student: respect, empathy, appreciation, tolerance, independence, integrity, curiosity, creativity, cooperation, enthusiasm, and confidence.

The school staff has collaborated to adopt school-wide guidelines of expected behavior for all of its locations. Our aim is to develop a school that is safe, respectful, and responsible. The following guidelines have been developed

Rewards

Rewards for appropriate behavior may include being recognized as a role model for other students; earning positions of responsibility and leadership; receiving a positive note or call home.

Consequences

Consequences for misbehavior may include a verbal warning, loss of special classroom privileges, a student/parent/teacher conference; referral to the Guidance Assistant, referral to the Principal.

Umbrella Rule

When no rule exists, follow the directions/decisions of the playground supervisor or teacher.

Scouts & Guides

Bharat Scouts and Guides is a voluntary, non-political educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed in accordance with the purpose, principles and method conceived by our founder Lord Baden Powell in 1907. All activities in Goutham Public School are based on four pillars – Character training, Health & Strength, Skill development and Service to others.

The purpose of the movement is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual potentials as individuals, responsible citizens and as the members of the local, national and international community.

Goutham Public School started Scouts & Guides movement in 2016. 24 Scouts and 25 Guides are the currently registered active members in the unit. The main programs conducted by our unit are – Kitchen garden promotion, Residential camp, Special Day activities, Training on marching and pioneering, Talent search programs, Patrol Leaders training programs etc.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The aims of the NCC laid out in 1988 have stood the test of time and continue to meet the requirements expected of it in the current socio–economic scenario of the country. The NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook and the spirit of nationality.  It helps cadets to improve their  overall personality through developing  leadership  qualities, discipline, dedication  and moral  values.

The NCC Army wing unit of Goutham Public School.  The unit was started in September 2018 with 25 cadets and presently with a total strength of 50 cadets.  The unit is headed by Third Officer Mr.Rajashekhara.V & Suma.K.R.

Parades and theory classes as per the NCC syllabi are conducted on a regular basis as part of the training programmes.  In addition to these basic training camps and interaction sessions are conducted via online and offline platforms.  The sessions include personality development, anti-corruption, importance of physical fitness, cycling, etc.
